Biography
Dwaine Jengelley’s research focuses on the factors that influence how journalists report the news, and media coverage of race. In this area, he explores the negativity in terrorism and climate change news coverage. He also researches the portrayals of the Black Lives Matter movement in editorial cartoons. His teaching interests include terrorism, security and technology, global development, and sports and politics. Dr. Jengelley is also the director of the Interdisciplinary Sports Studies Research Generator in the John Martinson Honors College.
Born and raised in Jamaica, Dwaine migrated to the United States in 1999. He earned his BA in political science at Benedict College, Columbia, SC, and his MA and Ph.D. at Purdue University in the Department of Political Science.
