Biography

Kristina Bross is a member of Purdue’s Teaching Academy and is enrolled in the Book of Great Teachers. She is a recipient of the Charles B. Murphy Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award, received a Center for Undergraduate Instructional Excellence (CUIE) fellowship and was a Service-Learning Faculty fellow. She has edited a collection of essays by Purdue undergraduates that presents their archival research into Purdue’s history: Little Else Than a Memory: Purdue Students Search for the Class of 1904 (Purdue Univ. Press for the Honors College), and recently her students documented their research into Purdue’s past through the blog “More than a Memory.”

She has taught honors courses through the Lilly Retention Initiative Grant, for the University Honors Program and through the Honors College. She served on the year-long task force to create the Honors College, and has been a member of the Honors College Faculty Governance Committee since its inception.

Outside of Honors, Bross is professor of English, specializing in early American studies. She is the author of Dry Bones and Indian Sermons: Praying Indians in Colonial America (Cornell Univ. Press, 2004), Future History; Global Fantasies in Seventeenth-Century British and American Literature, and has co-edited two collections: Of Early Native Literacies in New England: A Documentary and Critical Anthology (Univ. of Massachusetts Press, 2008) and A History of American Puritan Literature (Cambridge Univ. Press, 2020). She is a past president of the Society of Early Americanists and was a Fulbright Fellow in 2007 at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany.
