Cultural competency is a set of skills that help people work better in diverse and dynamic environments. Creative placemaking is a new way of engaging arts and culture to address social issues and enhance economic opportunity.

Honors Advising Open House

Tues. Mar. 8 and Wed. Mar. 9, 4-6pm in Shreve main lobby

The honors advising team will be available for drop-in supplemental honors advising in advance of fall 2016 priority registration which begins on Monday, March 21st and ends on Saturday, March 26th at 12PM. Please bring your form 23a, the registration planning sheet from your primary advisor which will allow an honors advisor to suggest honors sections of courses where available. We will also have information regarding the HONR courses offered in fall 2016. Finally, we will also have Gigi's mini-cupcakes, so come early!

We look forward to seeing you at the open house, but please remember that attendance does not count as your required Honors College advising session.

The Engagement and Service-Learning Summit brings together faculty, students, staff, and community partners to discuss best practices in engagement and service learning; highlight accomplishments; and increase collaboration opportunities. Stop by the student showcase and poster session from 4:15-6pm.

NCHC Conference Presentation Grant

Proposals due Mar. 28, apply for funding by May 1

The Purdue Honors College is a member of The National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) and is seeking students to participate in and represent us at the annual conference. This year's conference will be held October 12-16, 2016 in Seattle, WA. The Purdue University Honors College has a limited amount of funds available to support students who would like to participate.

The Journal of Reflective Inquiry

Accepting submissions

Unlike traditional scholarly journals, the Journal of Reflective Inquiry (JORI) seeks articles that reflect on the research process rather than the end-product. Although disciplinary topics may vary widely, all articles should demonstrate thoughtfulness about research and intellectual inquiry. Articles may be the products of classes, independent study, supervised research, honors theses, etc.

Summer Job Opportunity

Seeking Honors College Students to apply as counselors for the 2016 Summer Camps Enrichment Programs for Gifted, Creative, and Talented Youth. Purdue's Gifted Education Resource Institute (GERI) is hiring counselors to work 2 or 4 week sessions with grades 5 - 12 in July. The stipend is $525 per week, with meals and dorm space provided. Students attend from around the world.
