NISO Sophomore Workshop

This activity-based workshop puts you in tune with nationally competitive scholarship programs as well as future graduate school applications. Topics include: building strong academic relationships, particular kinds of leadership foundations expect, planning your academic trajectory. Lunch will be provided.
Apply with a resume as sophomores with a 3.7 or higher GPA via RSVP. You will receive a confirmation of admittance to the workshop on Wednesday before the event.

Gilman Scholarship Callout
Tomorrow, Jan. 20, 5:30pm in UNIV 017
This scholarship is only for students receiving federal Pell Grant funding during the 2015-16 academic year and this session is specifically for students going abroad in fall 2016. The program encourages students to choose non-traditional study and intern destinations, especially those outside of Western Europe, and supports students who have been traditionally under-represented in study abroad.

Honors Contracts
Due this Fri. Jan. 22 at 5pm
An honors contract is an agreement between an undergraduate student and a faculty instructor that allows the student to turn a standard course into an honors course. It provides the opportunity to complete honors assignments in a "regular" course and use the hours towards fulfilling honors college curriculum requirements. Honors contract work is part of the course grade. Honors contract proposals are submitted to the disciplinary college which is offering the course and are due by 5pm on January 22nd.

Honors College STAR Student Assistant Openings
Apply by Feb. 5
How has the Honors College enhanced your Purdue education? What advice would you share with incoming first-year students? The Honors College is accepting applications for two STAR (Summer Transition Advising and Registration) student assistants to help with the Honors College advising sessions. Competitive candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills. Responsibilities will include public speaking and escorting students to registration labs. Any continuing Honors College student may apply.
You must be available from June 13-July 8, and have a flexible schedule allowing for availability in the late morning as well as early/mid afternoon. Pay rate is $8/hr with 12-15 hours per week required. To apply, please email your current resume to Rebecca Krylow at mkrylow@purdue.edu, by February 5th. Review of applications will begin immediately following the February 5th deadline. The request to schedule interviews with finalists will follow shortly thereafter. |

If you would like to be involved in energy research, there are wonderful paid openings and grade-based research credits available through Purdue NEPTUNE Center for Power and Energy. Projects include advanced battery technology, heat transfer, cyber security, and more.

Service Learning Grants
Apply online by Feb. 1 Purdue's Office of Engagement provides grants to students or student organizations for work on community service learning projects.
Grant amounts range from $100 to $500 for an individual or a maximum of $1500 for a team or organization.
