International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies 2015 Conference

Oct. 15-18, 2015

The Honors College is looking for a few students to join Dean Phillips in traveling to Phoenix, AZ from October 15th-18th for the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies 2015 Conference. Students will attend the conference and prepare a poster for the student poster presentations. Registration, travel, and accommodations will be covered. Please email sashaunwood@purdue.edu by Friday September 19th if interested in this opportunity.


Building Blocks of Undergraduate Research

New event series dedicated to undergraduate research

This series is geared towards first and second year students looking to jump-start their undergraduate research experience. Students learn about beginning steps to take from both faculty and upper division students in discipline-specific lunchtime discussions. Hear it straight from the horse's mouth - undergraduates conducting research paired with the professors who mentor them. Bring your lunch!

Students involved in service-learning projects should submit an abstract to the 3rd Annual Academic Community Engagement Poster Presentation, hosted by Purdue's Center for Instructional Excellence.

Council on Undergraduate Research Travel Awards

Awarded on a first come, first serve basis

The Social Science Division of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is offering a limited number of travel grants, up to $200 each, for undergraduate students presenting the results of research that they have conducted at a regional or national, discipline-specific meeting during the academic year 2015 - 2016. Undergraduate students at any level can apply but preference will be given to juniors and seniors or students attending 2 year community colleges.

9th Annual Ecological Sciences and Engineering Symposium

Submit by Sept. 17

Students of all levels and backgrounds are invited to present their work (research or projects) at the Ecological Science and Engineering Symposium on Monday, September 21, 2015. Posters do NOT have to be directly related to the symposium themes of Inequality and Injustice, but students should be able to communicate their research succinctly.

Purdue Statistics: Sophomore Transitions

Open to all Majors

Students will conduct research with mentors in Statistics and an applied discipline (of the student's choice). This experience is well suited to students pursuing double majors. For the research project, each sophomore student participant will receive a $4500 academic year stipend (2016-17) and a $4900 stipend in the summer (2017). In addition, students will receive funding to travel to multiple research meetings.

Spanish Practice

Wednesdays through Fridays, noon in Duhme 121

Going to study abroad in a Spanish speaking country? Brush up on your language skills with the weekly Honors College conversational sessions. They will take place every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from noon to 1pm in Duhme Hall, room 121. If interested, please contact Ms. Martha Lucht.
