Tracks to Success: Honors Alumni Panel

Successful alumni discuss how experiences at Purdue shaped their futures. Come to listen and ask questions. There will be desserts at 6:00 pm, the panel begins at 6:30 and will finish in time for the homecoming parade. Hosted by the Beering Scholars Student Association.

French Food Culture

This maymester, in Dr. Becky Brown's French Food Culture program, learn about French language and culture through a course located in rural France (outside Lyon) with additional May classes at Purdue. Join our callout to learn more about this exciting (and tasty) opportunity.

Explorations in Human Cultural Diversity: Humans & Animals in Peru

During Spring Break join Dr. Liz Brite, an anthropologist, and Dr. Mark Russell, an animal scientist, as they journey to Peru to learn how different people interact with animals and how our relationship with animals has shaped societies. From Peru's capital, Lima, the program will make its way from the coastal plains to high up in the Andes Mountains, to explore the diverse ways that humans interact with animals in different cultural and environmental contexts.

Open to students with a GPA of 3.0 and above. For more information, contact Dr. Brite at britee@purdue.edu.


Design Garage: Places & People 1

Sat. Nov. 14, 10am-1pm in FPRD 204

How does sound define a place? Build a contact microphone and simple amplification devices and record audio vibrations through contact with solid objects. We will use this audio to create an online library.

It's time to focus in and think through your academic and extra-curricular trajectories, including how competitive scholarships and grants fit into the plan. Activities and discussions on building relationships with faculty, leadership, and creating long-term goals are the goals. Open to sophomores with a GPA of 3.8 or higher. Food provided.

Research Roundtable

Tues. Nov. 10, 9am-4pm in PMU Ballrooms

The Purdue Society of Professional Engineers and Tau Beta Pi, along with four participating colleges, are sponsoring the 5th annual Research Roundtable. The event aims to connect Purdue undergraduate students with Purdue faculty, research groups, and even other outside companies/research affiliates, and will take place on November 10th, 2015 from 9AM to 4PM. The event is broken up into two sessions: 9:00AM - 12:15PM & 12:45PM - 4:00PM.

Chemical Weapons Ban lecture

Wed. Nov. 11, 7pm in Krannert Auditorium

Krannert is combining with the College of Agriculture and College of Science to bring scientist Will Carpenter to campus for a 7 p.m. talk at Krannert Auditorium. He was credited at Monsanto for developing RoundUp and other pesticides; his talk will center on the work he did to help bring about the chemical weapons test ban treaty.
